OISTE holds special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN (ECOSOC) and interacts with the Human Rights Council, the International Telecommunications Union and the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).
ICANN
OISTE is a member of the Not-for-Profit Operational Concern constituency of ICANN, the Internet Corporation of Applied Names and Numbers. ICANN is a not-for-profit, public-benefit organization incorporated in California that operates the Internet’s Domain Name System, coordinates allocation and assignment of the Internet’s unique identifiers, such as Internet Protocol addresses, accredits generic top-level domain (gTLD) name registrars.
