Carlos Moreira began his career as a UN expert on IT, eSecurity and Trust Models, working for ILO, UN, UNCTAD, ITC/WTO, World Bank, UNDP, ESCAP from 1983 to 1998. A recognized early stage pioneer in the field of digital identity, he was also Adjunct Professor of the Graduate School of Engineering Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology from 1995 to 1999 as well as Head of the Trade Efficiency Lab at the Graduate School of Engineering at RMIT.

In 1999, he founded the Geneva-based online data security firm WISeKey, where he currently serves as Chairman and CEO. Mr Moreira’s unique profile, which combines extensive high level international diplomacy experience and emerging technologies expertise, has positioned him as a distinctive authority, thought leader, and entrepreneurial force in today’s digital world where the acquisition and trusted protection of a digital identity has become an essential step for citizens and entities across the globe. He is a Member of the UN Global Compact, Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council, Founding Member World Economic Forum Global Growth Companies.

Teresa Moreira, Head, Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD – United Nations Conference on Trade and Development since 5 October 2016, previously served as Consumer Director-General of Portugal from January 2010 to September 2016 and as a Member of the Board of the Portuguese Competition Authority (March 2003/March 2008) when it was first established. She also served as Portugal’s Director-General and Deputy Director General for International Economic Relations and held senior positions at the former Directorate-General for Competition. She worked for 20 years as a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon in the areas of International Economic Law and European Law as well as of European Competition Law and European Economic Law (graduate studies). Teresa Moreira holds a Law Degree and a Masters’ Degree in European Law (European Competition Law) by the Faculty of Law, University of Lisbon, Portugal.

Mr Wasserman is a Swiss entrepreneur and philanthropist. He is president of TeroLab Surface Group and co-founder and president of the Zermatt Summit Foundation. He is the organizer of the Zermatt Summit, an annual event designed to help innovative entrepreneurs, business leaders, senior politicians and NGOs to discuss how ethics can advance business practices in the years to come. The three objectives formulated in the summit’s agenda are: revisiting the rationale of business, promoting and enabling ethical leadership and making political and social responsibility of the company a reality.

Bruno Masier is President of the World Trade Point Federation, a non-governmental organization based in Geneva, deriving from an innovative United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, UNCTAD. Through a network of over 100 Trade Points, the WTPF assists SMEs, small and medium enterprises, in more than 70 countries to trade internationally using electronic commerce technologies. Mr Masier holds a degree and a Master’s in International Trade.

After three years’ experience in the engineering industry at Sir William Halcrow & Partners in London, Alvise joined Philip Morris in 1993 as Finance Supervisor in Munich, Germany. In 1996, he was appointed Manager Business Development, based in Lausanne and in 2000 he became Director Business Development and Corporate Affairs. In 2001, he took the role of Director Business Development and Planning and moved to Rome, leading a task force to set up a new affiliate in Italy. In August 2003, Alvise moved to Sales and in June 2004 became Sales Director Portugal and in 2006 he was appointed Managing Director Tabaqueira (Philip Morris Portuguese affiliate). In February 2008 Alvise held the position of Managing Director Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, based in Prague. In June 2011 Alvise became Area Vice President in Philip Morris Asia and was based in Hong Kong for 4 years. Since 2015, Alvise is the Head of Anti-Illicit Trade at Philip Morris International.

Expertise: Technical knowledge of the policy environment, and the ability to think strategically about business issues combined with the political acumen and an aptitude for both government affairs and communications. Training in law and diplomacy as well as deep knowledge of the policy, regulatory and economic landscape in many regulated areas combined with experience in company operations, business development, sales, talent management, process strategy and change management initiatives.

Danil Kerimi is an experienced technology executive skilled in the nuanced creation and articulation of market sensitive agenda and messaging in complex multijurisdictional arenas. He is an inspirational leader who builds high-performing teams in digital transformation. His extensive experience in the developed, emerging and frontier markets helps Danil to deliver impactful projects in corporate strategy, business development, public and investor relations, ESG, tech and economic diplomacy.

As an expert in investor/internal/external/government relations, Danil is working with national, regional and municipal governments, large enterprises, start-up and investor communities on accelerating and securing digital transition around the world and applying newfound capabilities for solving biggest challenges in health, food and environmental ecosystems. Danil is most passionate about unlocking both the entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial potential of individuals and organizations to drive positive change in the world.

During his 12 years with the World Economic Forum (WEF), Danil served on the Leadership Team in the Centres for Global Industries, Global Technology and Regional Strategies. He was posted in Geneva, New York, San Franscisco and Beijng. In his last role, Danil built a network of Centres for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Asia with offices in Beijing, Mumbai and Tokyo. Danil oversaw all APAC operations for the network and worked closely with EMEA and LATAM hubs of WEF’s Network for Global Technology Governance. He led interdisciplinary teams with a mission to maximize the benefits of science and technology for society by partnering with governments, companies, civil society, and experts from around the world to co-design new approaches to technology, business and governance.

Concurenlty, Danil served as a manager of the Global Future Council on Agumented and Virtual Reality. Previously, he has managed councils and working groups on Cybersecutiry, Future of Computing, Anti Corruption, Conflict Prevention, Emerging Markets, Digital Policy and Regional/National Competiveness as well as Industry Governors groups. For more than a decade, Danil have been working on national digital/cyber strategies, internet governance and evidence-based policy making. He led WEF’s engagement in the Netmundial Initiative, developed and strengthened its relationships with top policy makers, international and regional organizations (UN, ITU, EU, OSCE, ASEAN, AU, OAS, APEC, etc), development banks (IADB, ADB, AfDB, AIIB, EBRD, NDB, etc), c-suit executives of Fortune 2000 and founders of most innovative technology pioneers, leaders from the top media, academic and philanthropical organizations.

Prior to WEF, Danil served as a Terrorism Prevention Expert, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime where he focused on delivering technical assistance on cybersecurity, digital platforms, AML/CFT/KYC and international cooperation in criminal justice. He has also served as the Senior Legal Advisor on Hate Crime for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He had stints with the International Organization for Migration and SMEs in the manufacturing and media industries.

Danil is a graduate of Shandong University (LLB), Vienna Diplomatic Academy (MA) and the Global Leadership Fellowship (MA)- a collaborative program run by the WEF, CEIBS, INSEAD, LBS, Wharton School and Columbia University. Danil earned multiple diplomas in Business (MODUL Uni, Wharton), Regional Studies (Central European University, University of Wits, National University of Singapore), public diplomacy (University of Malta), corporate governance (Wharton School and Financial Times), cybersecurity (Harvard). His served as a fellow at the Berkman –Klein Centre for Internet and Society at Harvard, on the Advisory Boards of Stanford Cyber Policy Program, Korea Media Governance Lab, Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice & Human Rights, Cornell’s Emerging Markets Institute and the World information Technology and Services Alliance.

Danil is regularly invited to judge various start up competitions including Sultan Qaboos Award, StatsZero Challenge, Arrell Global Food Innovation Awards. He is a member of the International Telecommunication Union’s Working Groups on the Smart and Sustainable Cities as well as Guiding Principles for Artificial Intelligence.

Jeffrey Hardy is a seasoned executive with 25 years’ experience strengthening the voice of business in international policy. As President of IDA Consulting, Jeffrey has worked with dozens of international trade associations to help them more effectively navigate key policy arenas and gain from emerging legislative and regulatory regimes. From 2004 to February 2017, he served as the Director of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (BASCAP), where he united the global business community to fight illicit trade in the forms of trademark counterfeiting and copyright piracy. In this leadership position, he pressed governments to set higher standards for global performance and pioneered mitigation tactics for securing supply chains and digital channels. From 2010 to February 2017, he also served as Director of the ICC G20 CEO Advisory Group, where he coordinated international business priorities on the G20 policy agenda related to trade, investment, energy and anti-corruption. Jeffrey has long been an advocate of open and fair trade, and he effectively mobilizes expertise from companies and business organizations to achieve these goals. From 1985 to 1998, Jeffrey worked for the U.S. Department of Energy, where he held positions as International Energy Economist and Director of the U.S. Clean Cities program. Jeffrey currently serves on the Advisory Committee for Combating Illicit Trade, a project of the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights. Jeffrey holds a Master of Public Administration and Policy from George Mason University, a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Illinois State University and an Honorary Degree for Energy Policy from the Oxford College of Petroleum Studies. In 1992, Jeffrey was awarded the U.S. Secretary of Energy’s Silver Medal for his meritorious service during the Gulf War.

Juhani Grossmann leads the Basel Institute’s cross-divisional Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT) programme, which applies anti-corruption tools to disrupt transnational wildlife trafficking and the financial crimes that fuel it. He joined the Basel Institute in April 2020.

Prior to joining the Institute, he spent nine years leading anti-corruption and good governance programmes in Indonesia. This included managing the USD 25 million USAID-funded CEGAH project, which advised 17 government agencies on their respective integrity building efforts. The programme’s 50+ tracks included internal controls and compliance, public service complaint-handling systems, court IT system integration, access to public information and financial investigations.

In the Philippines, he managed a programme on campaign finance reform that resulted in the first obligatory disclosure of expenditure records by political candidates. He also led an international assessment of the country’s 2010 landmark IT-based elections.

Over five years in Ukraine, he organised the biggest election observation mission worldwide at that time, fielding over 1,000 international observers to monitor the 2004 presidential elections and uncovering widespread election fraud. After the ensuing Orange Revolution, he advised the new government in strengthening its anti-corruption reforms through extensive research on corruption patterns in customs, healthcare, education and licensing. This led to the enactment of over 80 local-level reforms. He also facilitated the negotiations that led to the adoption of Ukraine’s first access to public information law. Prior to Ukraine, he worked on civil society and political party capacity building in Russia.

Juhani holds a Master’s degree in Public Management from Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, Germany as well as an MA in International Conflict Resolution and a BA in Political Science, both from Landegg International University in Switzerland.
